A runaway youth who "shacked up" with his girlfriend before he allegedly stabbed a man six times in a park robbery has been further remanded in custody.
The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be identified because he is a juvenile, was arrested in connection with an incident at approximately 4pm on August 23rd at Fairview Park, Dublin 3.
He faces three charges: assault causing harm, robbery, and producing a knife.
The teen was refused bail last week, was remanded in custody, and appeared at the Dublin Children's Court, which adjourned his case for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions to be obtained.
He will appear again on September 16th.
Last week's bail hearing was told that the west of Ireland youth was a "minor at large without any parental or adult supervision".
Detective Garda Richard Ledwidge had stated the victim suffered a single stab wound to his head, four to his abdomen and one to his leg.
It was claimed that the teenager approached the injured party, produced a knife and stabbed him six times, took his bicycle and left the scene.
Gardaí obtained CCTV evidence, and the court heard the teenager made significant admissions. When charged, he replied: "I'm sorry, I'm sorry for doing it, if I could go back in time, I would not have done it at all."
The defence had said the boy had a difficult background: his mother was a chronic drug addict, and his father was "not on the scene". Counsel had said the teenager, stupidly blinded by young love, "shacked up" in Dublin with his girlfriend in the council flat of one of her relatives.
