The solicitors' protest over criminal legal aid, and new legislation over chatbots are among the stories on Friday's front pages.

A top Government adviser has called for new steps to roll back “gold-plated” environmental law, saying excessive measures have been “weaponised” against big infrastructure schemes, The Irish Times reports.

The Irish Examiner leads with the solicitors' protest over criminal legal aid. A story on Joshua Allen facing charges including assaulting two gardaí, failing to stop at a garda checkpoint and proceeding todrive at a garda at speed, also makes the front page.

New rules are coming into effect giving someone the legal right to request a human spokesperson, rather than a bot, when shopping over the phone. The Irish Independent leads with this story. 

The Echo leads with a story on homelessness in Cork.

Gardaí are demanding new legislation to tackle the issue of e-scooters, the Irish Daily Mail reports. A story on the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden also makes the front page.

The Irish Daily Star leads with Dubliner Roberto 'Pico' Lopes preparing to face Lionel Messi and Argentina at the World Cup with Cape Verde.

Parnell Square attacker Riad Bouchaker will join Jozef Puska, who murdered Ashling Murphy, in prison, the Irish Daily Mirror reports.

The Herald leads with a story on a garda who was 'savaged' by a dog.

Jeffrey Donaldson's security was removed before his arrest, the Belfast Telegraph reports.

The Irish News leads with a Co Antrim murder.

A number of stories feature on Friday's UK front pages. These include questions over whether pubs will open for England's World Cup clash with Mexico, which kicks off at 1am on Monday morning, and an interview with prime minister Keir Starmer's former chief of staff, Corkman Morgan McSweeney.

US president Donald Trump's crypto earnings lead in The New York Times.
