The decision of Fianna Fáil's presidential election candidate Jim Gavin to pull out of the race to Áras an Uachtaráin dominates the front pages of Irish newspapers on Monday.

The Irish Times leads with Gavin's decision to withdraw being announced after questions were raised about his time as a landlord in the late 2000s.

Gavin's departure from the presidential election also features on the front page of the Irish Examiner.

The paper's front page also reports on Budget 2026, with its sources indicating there is still a "long way to go" in several spending departments.

Almost 200 complaints were made to the Garda Ombudsman about gardaí in Cork last year, The Echo reports.
