Roscommon senior football captain, Diarmuid Murtagh, feels that a victory over Monaghan in Clones could be the catalyst for his side to do well in this year’s All-Ireland Series.
Speaking to GAA.ie, Murtagh said that he associated the home of Monaghan GAA with big championship matches and admitted that while there was a healthy respect between the two counties, Monaghan had done better than the Rossies in the All-Ireland Series.
“If you beat Monaghan in Clones, it means that you’re a team that could do well in the championship.
“If you lose there, you’re probably thinking that’s two games we’ve lost in a row, you’re not good enough to go any further.
“It’s great that jeopardy is there. It’s all or nothing, and I’m sure Monaghan are thinking the same."
