'Heroes of Light and Shadow’ features Rathcroghan
Rathcroghan’s Cave of the Cats (Oweynagat), has long been described as Ireland’s “Gate to Hell” and a portal to the Otherworld.
Rathcroghan is featuring in a recently published children’s book, ‘Heroes of Light and Shadow’.
The book has been published by The O’Brien Press and is Conor Forrest’s debut novel.
The story follows the character Oisin, who dreams of being a hero like the ones he reads about in books. When he overhears a plot for a midnight raid on a Dublin museum, he knows this is his chance.
But Oisin soon realises that heroes must fight monsters. With the help of legendary troublemaker Fionn MacCumhaill, can Oisin prevent death and destruction?
During the adventure the pair travel to Rathcroghan, which was been reimagined as the home of Ireland's druids, a hidden sanctuary away from mortals and indeed their own kind, accessed via a secret entrance in Oweynagat.
Conor first came across the ancient site when he was researching for his debut novel 'Heroes of Light and Shadow'.
“I was fascinated by how far back its history stretches,” said Conor.
The book is available to buy from major retailers.
