“I try to respond and echo the fragile nature of our beautiful countryside and the dangers we face in our environment. I like to observe the ever changing mood, light, movement and textures of my surroundings. My interpretation in my work aims convey a sense of immediacy which I hope resonates. I work with a combination of brushes and palette knives,” she added.

Kara explained that she has spent time carving out her career over the last 15 years. Prior to that she was busy raising her two sons.

Her works sells nationally, in Europe and also internationally and she has previously exhibited in the civic space at Roscommon County Council headquarters, Aras an Chontae, and in the Leitrim Design House.

Over the years she has developed a distinctive style of painting, carving out her own unique art and continually works on developing her craft.
