Submissions sought for Autumn Leaves 2026

Autumn Leaves was launched recently at Roscommon Arts Centre.

Roscommon County Council Arts Office is seeking submissions for Autumn Leaves 2026.

The literary broadsheet will be published in late autumn 2026, and will include poetry, prose and short fiction from adult writers with a strong connection to County Roscommon. This year’s editor is Louise G. Cole.

The annual broadsheet, published as part of Roscommon Arts Office Literary Development Programme, will again be circulated as a free supplement in the Roscommon Herald, and copies will be available in local libraries.

Content will be mostly new, unpublished work, although previously published material may be considered. To qualify for submission, writers must have a strong County Roscommon connection (born in, living in, working in, parents or grandparents from). Members of County Roscommon writing groups are also eligible to submit.

Writing which depicts nature and the natural world will be favoured. Submissions that are ‘uplifting and positive’ will be welcomed.

Poems should be no longer than 30 lines (there is no minimum line length), and prose or fiction should be no more than 300 words. Prose includes memoir and personal essays.

Each writer can submit one piece either one poem, or one piece of fiction/prose.

The deadline for receipt of entries is 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 3rd.
