A 34-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to helping move the body of Stephen Ring, who was found dead in a Wexford quarry in October last year.

At the Central Criminal Court on Friday, Jane Corcoran, with an address at Pairc na Dara, Clonard, Wexford, also admitted to lying to investigating gardaí.

Corcoran appeared before the court, where she pleaded guilty to a charge that on October 15th 2024 at an address in Pairc na Dara, in circumstances where another person had committed an arrestable offence, namely murder, she - knowing or believing the said person to be guilty of that offence or some other arrestable offence, did without reason or excuse, an act with intent to impede the apprehension or prosecution of the said individual by assisting that person with moving the remains of Stephen Ring from an address in Pairc na Dara.

She also entered a guilty plea to a charge that on October 25th 2024 at the same address, in circumstances where another person had committed an arrestable offence, namely murder, she - knowing or believing the said person to be guilty of that offence or some other arrestable offence - did without reason or excuse, an act with intent to impede the apprehension or prosecution of the said person in that she told falsehoods to the gardaí.

Following her arraignment, Michael Hourigan SC, representing Corcoran, asked the court to set a sentencing date in the final week of the court term.

He sought probation, governor’s, and education reports in relation to his client and asked that urinalysis be carried out.

Mr Justice Paul McDermott directed that the relevant reports be prepared and put the matter back to Tuesday, December 16 for sentence.

Mr Ring’s body was found in a quarry outside Wexford town in October last year, almost two weeks after he was first reported missing.
