Two separate road traffic incidents have taken place in the past 24 hours, one in Kerry which has claimed the life of a young man and another in Co Wicklow where three teenagers remain in a serious condition.

In Kerry, gardaí are investigating a fatal crash on the N69 at Ballingowan, near Tralee.

The single-vehicle collision happened shortly after 10am.

The driver and sole occupant, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been taken to University Hospital Kerry, where a postmortem will be carried out.

The scene remains sealed off for examination, and local diversions are in place.

Elsewhere, in Co Wicklow, three teenage girls are in serious condition following a crash at Carrigroe, Tinahely on Saturday night.

The car they were passengers in collided with a ditch and overturned at around 11.30pm.

The driver, a male in his late teens, and three other passengers were uninjured.

The injured teenagers were brought to Tallaght University Hospital and St Vincent’s University Hospital.

The road is closed with diversions in place.

Gardaí are urging anyone who may have witnessed either crash, or who has dashcam footage from the areas at the time, to come forward.
