Water supply has been restored to customers in Dublin’s north inner city after Uisce Éireann crews completed repairs to a significant water main burst.
Teams worked overnight on Saturday to isolate and repair the affected section, allowing supply to be restored to customers in Fitzgibbon Street, Frederick Street North, Dorset Street, Gardiner Row, Summerhill, Gardiner Place and surrounding areas in Dublin 1.
“It typically takes three to four hours for normal supply and pressure to be fully restored to all areas as the water refills the network,” an Uisce Éireann spokesperson said.
Thousands of people had been left without water due to a burst water main in Dublin City.
Uisce Éireann’s Keith Conmy assured customers that every effort was being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible.
Mr Conmy highlighted that the problem was down to a “significant burst and (would) take some time for repairs to be completed.”
He continued: “We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works continue.”
