Car found burnt out is linked to hit-and-run incident

A car found completely burnt out is thought to have been used in a hit-and-run incident in Co Derry, police said.

A woman, in her 50s, was hit by a white Ford Transit van that had also collided with another vehicle at about 6.30pm on Saturday in the Queens Quay area of the city.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which are not believed to be serious.

Officers received a report at about 10.10pm on Saturday that a van had been found completely burnt out in the Sheriff’s Road area.

Police said they believe this vehicle was involved in the earlier hit-and-run.

Police have appealed to anyone with information, dash-cam or mobile phone footage to contact them on 101.
