ELPHIN SCOR FINALS 2023 

Huge congratulations to everyone from Elphin who participated in the GAA Scor competitions this year and especially to Sarah Keane who is the new All-Ireland Amhranaiocht Aonair Champion. Sarah is a truly beautiful singer and this win was very well deserved. A huge crowd gathered on the Main Street to welcome Sarah and the team home from Killarney.

BRIDGE 

Elphin Bridge Club competition results for November 2nd: 1st, Eamon Beirne and Vincent Beirne; 2nd, Ann Fingleton and Mary Walsh; 3rd, Angela McGrath and Anne Lenehan.

November 9th: Contie McNally Cup results. First, Ann Fingleton and Mary Walsh (Tie) and Eithne Cryan and Bernie O’ Dowd.

November 16th: Seamus Nolan Trophy Competition results – 1st, Vincent Beirne and Eamon Beirne; 2nd, Bernie O Dowd and Johnny Rogers ETERNAL RELOCATES Congratulations to Mary and Colm of Eternal, Elphin. They have successfully relocated the business to the Bank of Ireland premises and had a successful launch last Friday. Best wishes to them for the future from everyone in Elphin. It is wonderful to see this beautiful building being saved for the future.

SANTA ARRIVES IN ELPHIN 

Santa and Mrs Claus bade Farewell to Lapland and travelled to Elphin to turn on the Christmas lights last Friday (outside the Credit Union and the newly relocated Eternal Shop). They used the beautiful Elphin Windmill as their guide from the sky. There were lots of excited children gathered to welcome them to Elphin and wish them well on their worldwide journey.

TOWER INN SESSIONS 

Congratulations to Sarah Keane who was crowned Scor 2023 All-Ireland Amhranaiocht Aoinair Champion in Killarney recently. Sarah has come to the sessions to sing and all are always delighted to have her. The Irish traditional music sessions are continuing on Tuesdays in the Tower Inn with the Junior sessions starting at 7 p.m.. All junior musicians are very to attend welcome provided that they are accompanied by a parent. The senior music sessions start at 8 p.m. and all musicians will be made very welcome, beginners are not only welcome but will be encouraged and supported by the other musicians in a friendly manner.

GAA ROUNDERS 

Elphin GAA Rounders club has been established. Training will continue every Saturday and Sunday at 4.30 p.m. in the Orchard. All new members welcome.

GAA AGM

 The AGM of Elphin GAA will take place on Friday, December 1st in Elphin Day Centre at 7.30 p.m.. Share the word and come along.

BALLINAMEEN AND ELPHIN WOMEN’S SHED 

Due to scheduling conflicts and venue availability, Kathryn’s sessions have been rescheduled to Thursday, November 30th and the week after ( December 7th) at 7.30 p.m. in Bóthar Rua. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

 YOGA CLASSES 

Yoga with Joanne at Elphin Day Centre Mondays at 7 p.m. and 8.30 p.m.. Limited places so pre-booking essential on 086 3722165.

DAY CENTRE 

The annual Christmas dinner /party, will be held in An Bothar Rua on Sunday, December 10th at 2 p.m.. Music on the day by Billy. Also raffle lots of prizes This is a good opportunity for families to have a day out with their loved one. Let Catherine know if you or someone you know would like a fun festive day out and get into the Christmas spirit on 071 9635566. This year also a fundraising draw is being held to help towards running costs of the centre. Draw will take place at our annual mass and party in the centre on Thursday, December 21st. Prizes include, pure bred Charolais ewe lamb, Sunday lunch for two Lough Rynn, 20 bags of turf delivered, €100 cash, homemade Christmas cake, bumper luxury hamper, numerous other prizes. Tickets €10 each of book of 3 is €20. Please support this vital service for Elphin and surrounding areas. The draw for this will take place on the day and tickets will be on sale shortly. CREEVE MASS

The annual pre-Christmas Mass will be celebrated in Creeve Community Centre on Friday, December 15th at 8 p.m.. Light refreshments will be served afterwards. All welcome to attend.

CREEVE 25 CARD DRIVE 

 The annual 25 card drive will take place in Creeve Community Centre on Friday, December 15th commencing at 9 p.m.. Prize money of €500. Tickets €5 each available from committee members.
