Creative Mic Night is back and returning with a new venue in Roscommon town. The popular open mic night will now take place in Foxe’s Bar, Athlone Road, on Monday, February 23rd at 8 p.m.. Creative Mic Night is an open and welcoming space for all forms of creative expression, including music, poetry, spoken word and traditional music. Whether you’d like to perform or simply sit back and enjoy the atmosphere, everyone is welcome. Admission is free, and the event is open to all. For anyone interested in local creativity, community, and live performance, Creative Mic Night promises a relaxed and supportive evening.

Seeking Safety is a free coping skills programme for women affected by trauma, mental health and/or addiction. Learn new ways to cope safely with your own triggers, impulses and symptoms and gain a more compassionate understanding of yourself and take back your power from the impacts of trauma, mental health and/or addiction. The programme is funded by the HSE and is being delivered in Castlerea and Boyle with a new group starting in Roscommon Town. Roscommon SPCA will be holding its annual church gate collections at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Derrane on Saturday, February 14th and St. Brigid's Church, Fourmilehouse on Sunday, February 15th. Roscommon SPCA is run by a team of dedicated volunteers with all money donated going directly towards animal welfare in the county. Roscommon Town’s Easter Parade will take place on Easter Sunday, April 5th at 12.30 p.m. This year the prize money has been increased to 1st, €1,000; 2nd, €500 and 3rd, €250. Organisers encourage all commercial, voluntary, clubs and schools to enter floats.

A nine day Lenten Novena takes place in the Sacred Heart Church, Roscommon, “Take Heart, Take Courage”, from Friday, March 6th – Saturday, March 14th.

There was a wonderful turnout at the walk in Mote Park celebrating St. Brigid’s Day and the start of spring. Roscommon Sports Partnership was delighted to organise this special event. Events like this highlight the importance of staying active and show how simple, enjoyable activities such as walking can support both physical and mental wellbeing. A special thank you to renowned bard and storyteller Seán Clancy, who enriched the walk with stories of St. Brigid and her links to Celtic Ireland.
