It was a day of celebration for the community of Cortober/Drumlion when a new kitchen facility was opened at the local Patrician Hall, new statues at the grotto situated in the grounds of the hall were blessed and Fr. Alan Conway’s 28 year as a priest were marked.

Geraldine Duignan and Marie O’Dowd have been successful in recent funding applications and the area, on the edge of Carrick-on-Shannon has received over €60,000 in total to date from Roscommon Leader. This funding allowed the refurbishment of bathrooms, to include a new wheelchair-accessible toilet facility, to go ahead. In recent months, a further grant was obtained from the Community Grant Scheme or the installation of new kitchen facility.

A special word of thanks to Gerard Hayden, contractor and his team for great work and to Padraic McWeeney who managed the entire project. Thanks to Noel and Rosemary McDermott and the bingo committee for their ongoing support and assistance, to Jim Glancy for his financial support to the committee throughout this time, to the volunteers in Drumlion Community Council and Cortober Residents, and anybody that assisted in any way.
