CRAOBH DE hIDE

Tháinig an rang Gaeilge le chéile arís sa leabharlann sa gCaisleán Riabhach ar an gCéadaoin seo cáite. Thug na baill go léir cuntas ar a gcuid nuachta. Rinne siad scéalta móra na tíre a phlé: Fuair an t-iriseoir Charlie Bird bás ar an Luan seo caite. Bhí galar néarón luadrach aige ar feadh cúpla bliain. Dhreach sé suas Cruach Phádraig annuraidh is bhailigh se a lán airgid do dhaoine le galair éagsúla, ina measc Vicky Phelan a raibh ailse uirthi is a fuair bás tamall ó shin. Tá rásaí Cheltenham ar siúl an tseachtain seo. Tá a lán daoine imithe ón tír seo go dtí na rásaí seo. Bhí Lá na Máithreacha ann ar an Domhnach. Bhí ceiliúradh ar siúl ar fad na tíre. Rinne na fír an chócaireacht go léir do na mná nó thog siad amach go bialann le haghaidh dinnéar blasta. Nuair a tháinig an oíche bhí na mná millte le seacláid is bronntanais. Ghlac siad páirt i dTráth na gCeist ar feadh tamaill. Bhí spraoi is spórt acu ar feadh i bhfad. Míle buíochas le Pádraig O’ Foghlú CNAG don bosca mór de cupáin, peann agus rudaí eagsula a chuir sé chuig Craobh De hÍde í gcomhair Seachtain na Gaeilge. Chuireadh lampa olla ghlás ar an mbórd le haighaidh Lá le Phádraig.

Gabhadh buíochas le Tomás P. Ó’Móráin, le Brída agus gach duine eile a bhí ann.

Beloved husband of the late Nancy Egan (nee Vaugan). Predeceased by his sister, Mary. Deceased was a very kind, gentle and jolly person who always had time for people both young and old. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren. He was also a great neighbour and was a great man to give advice. He was born in Cloonsuck and went to school in Cloonbonniffe. As a young lad he worked for Bord na Mona before emigrating at the age of 20, first to Philadelphia and then to Boston. He worked hard and got on well in life. After many years in the States, he returned to Limerick and later to Cratloe. But no matter where he lived he never forgot his roots and was a regular visitor with his late wife Nancy and their family to family and friends in Culmore and always kept an interest in what was going on in his native parish. He was also a devoted Catholic and he will be sadly missed by his sons, Tom and Patrick; daughter, Ann (USA); brother, John (Limerick); sister, Ann Hawkshaw (Castlerea); son-in-law, Brendan; beloved grandchildren, Ciara, Caroline and Claire; sisters-in-law, Geraldine and Helen; brother-in-law, Sean; nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends and neighbours in Culmore, Cratloe and Boston. His remains were removed from Gaynor’s Funeral Home, Castlerea to St. Brigid’s Church, Cloonbonniffe and following Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday morning celebrated by Fr. Chris Garrett, burial took place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Castlerea. Before the final blessing a eulogy on Patrick’s life was delivered by his daughter Ann. The ceremony was enhanced by the music and singing of Carmel McLoughlin. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
