The Board of Management of Elphin Community College makes a presentation to Lucia Reveluta and Ms Prendergast in recognition of their recent Junk Kouture success. Ms Prendergast was also recognised for her many years of dedication, creativity and continued success with Junk Kouture over the years.
A meeting of the Ballinameen/Elphin Women's Shed takes place on Thursday, May 14th at 7 p.m. in An Bothar Rua, Elphin. It is planned to hold a plant swapping session. All ladies welcome to join us.
The death has occurred of Mrs Nonie Nee (née Conneely), Letterfrack, Galway and formerly of Cashleen, Renvyle, peacefully aged 96 years, in the loving care of the staff of St. Anne's CNU, Clifden. Predeceased by her husband Padraig, son-in-law, Michael Kelly, parents, Nora and Michael Conneely, brothers and sisters. Sadly missed by her daughters, Marian McDonagh, Cloonlara and Rosie Kelly, Elphin and her son-in-law Paddy McDonagh; grandchildren, Stephen and his wife Olivia, Robbie and his wife Aisling, Josephine and her partner Alan, Anastasia and her partner Jason, Dima and his partner Ruth, her 10 great grandchildren, sister, Mary Collins and brother-in-law, Chris Morley, New York, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends. Roscommon SPCA will hold its annual church gate collection at St. Patrick's Church, Elphin on Sunday, May 17th.Roscommon SPCA is run by a team of dedicated volunteers with all money donated going directly towards animal welfare in the county. All support appreciated. Thank you to everyone who donated to the recent street collection in Elphin. Donations totalled €462.39.
Well done to Elphin’s mixed U-14 and U-16 draughts team winning silver medals in Connaught Community Games Final in Sligo. Expressions of interest are invited for all children aged between 6 and 16 years for Elphin Community Games talent teams. The talent competitions take place on Thursday, May 15th in Kilbride Community Centre at 6 p.m.. If your child is interested please e-mail elphin@communitygames.ie. Elphin Community Games Track & Field playoffs will take place in Orchard Park, Elphin on Wednesday, May 13th at 6.30 p.m.. The traditional Irish music sessions continue each Tuesday in the Tower Inn at 8.30 p.m. with a great mix of musicians and instruments which combines culture and heritage with an enjoyable night’s entertainment. So whether you are a musician or listener come along to the Tower Inn and support this great event.
Tidy Towns volunteers meet on Saturdays at 10.30 a.m. at the Day Centre polytunnel. All welcome, even if you can only come now and again for half hour, every little counts.

Children from Woodbrook National School will receive their First Holy Communion in Drumlion Church on Saturday, May 16th at 12 noon.
The death occurred on Wednesday, May 6th at Sligo University Hospital of Mrs Kathleen Geraghty (née McLoughlin), Summerhill, Carrick-on-Shannon, formerly Geraghty's Shop, Carrick-on-Shannon and The Lodge, Drumlion. Kathleen will be sadly missed by her son, Pat, daughters Maureen, Ann, Caroline, Rita, Joan, Dympna, Linda and Ella, extended family, neighbours and friends. Following reposal at The Heritage Centre, Chapel of Rest, Carrick-on-Shannon on Sunday, May 10th, removal took place to St. Mary's Church, Carrick-on-Shannon. Mass of Christian Burial took place on Monday followed by interment in St. Mary's cemetery.
Best of luck to Nikita Berzins and Declan Kennedy, and to the Roscommon U-20 panel and their management team in the All-Ireland semi-final against Kerry in Thurles on Wednesday evening. Congratulations to the Roscommon senior footballers on their fantastic victory over Galway in Hyde Park on Sunday to capture the Connacht title. Also congratulations to the Roscommon Minor footballers who won the provincial title by defeating Galway in Tuam on Friday evening, and to the Roscommon ladies minor team on their victory in the Connacht final.
Recent winner of the Shannon Gaels GAA Club's 50/50 draw was Shauna Murtagh who won €1,560. All support for the draw is much appreciated. Tickets may be purchased on ClubSpot or at local businesses.
