Local Notes: Darts Success, Scrabble, Bealtaine Events
Ballaghaderreen senior ladies football team celebrate their Connacht Shield win in McSharry Park.
Congratulations to all the pubs and players who took part in the inaugural Ballagh Arrows inter-pub darts competition on Sunday. It was a brilliant local event that brought great darts, friendly rivalry, and serious craic across Ballaghaderreen, with The Hatch, Clarkes, Mannions, Creatons, Durkins, The Fiddlers, Mollys and Spells all involved. From the opening fixtures through to the cup and shield semi-finals and finals, the competition was a credit to everyone who organised, hosted, played and supported it. Fair play to all involved in making the first Ballagh Arrows competition such a success. There was good darts and great community spirit all round.

The AGM of the Mayo/Roscommon Hospice - Ballghaderreen Support Group will take place in Durkins on June 2nd at 8.30 p.m.. All members are asked to attend, and new members are welcome.
allaghaderreen Street Feast takes place on Sunday, June 7th at the Ballaghaderreen Community Garden, with the food feast running from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and shared dishes set up from 12.30 p.m.. This is a lovely chance for the community to come together, share food, enjoy good company, and celebrate local spirit in a relaxed and welcoming setting. Everyone is encouraged to take part, bring along a dish if you can, and join in what promises to be a warm, sociable afternoon in the heart of Ballaghaderreen.
The Ballaghaderreen Women’s Shed will host its annual day trip on Tuesday, June 9th with this year’s outing titled “The Erris Experience.” The trip is open to all guests and not just members, and promises a full day of fun, music, dancing, laughter and good company. The coach will depart from Ballaghaderreen at 8 a.m. and return at approximately 9 p.m. with pick-up and drop-off in the town. All food and light refreshments are included, and full details can be found on the Women's Shed Group socials.

Ballaghaderreen FC’s 50/50 club draw was held on May 12th for a jackpot of €330. Winners were Gerry Peyton & Derek Rogers, seller, Molly’s Bar. The next draw will take place on this Tuesday, May 19th at the Community Park. Thank you for your continued support. Tickets are available from outlets throughout the town and online at Clubforce.com. Annual tickets are also available.
It was a bittersweet week for the club in terms of results, with the men’s senior team securing their divisional status, while the senior ladies came within a whisker of achieving an historic double when they lost on penalty kicks to Kilkerrin. Still, it was another amazing season for the club. Congratulations to all the players who wear the red and black of Ballaghaderreen.

Mayo Roscommon Hospice is seeking help raising funds on National Sunflower Days for Hospice on Friday & Saturday, June 12th&13th. Ballaghaderreen GAA has announced that its popular Summer Camp will return from Monday, August 10th to Friday, August 14th. Following the success of previous camps, organisers are looking forward to welcoming children back for another fun-filled week featuring games, sport, activities and the chance to make new friends. The camp will cater for all interests and abilities, with more booking details expected to be announced shortly.
Roscommon SPCA will be holding its annual church gate collection at the Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Loughglynn on Sunday, May 24th. Roscommon SPCA is run by a team of dedicated volunteers with all money donated going directly towards animal welfare in the county.
