LOUGH KEY LEGENDS HALF MARATHON 

The inaugural Lough Key Legends Half Marathon and 10k run will take place on Sunday, May 10th. The event promises to be an unforgettable trail running experience at Lough Key Forest and Activity Park. This is a fully chipped timed event, and every runner receives an official T-shirt, finisher medal, race bag, and free parking. A portion of proceeds supports the chosen charity for 2026 – The North West Hospice. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or just want a truly scenic running experience, this event is designed to challenge and inspire. The 10k course is a scenic single-loop route through Lough Key Forest & Activity Park, taking in forest trails, park roads and lakeside paths. The half marathon is made up of a short opening loop (approx. 1.1 km) to spread the field, followed by the main 10K loop completed twice and finishing back at Lough Key Forest & Activity Park Both courses are mixed-surface, using a combination of trail, forest paths and park road. Entry is €60 per adult (half marathon) and €40 (10k). Participants must be 16 years of age and older on race day.

BOYLE GROUP SCHEME 

 Boyle Group Scheme Ltd has vacancies on its Community Employment scheme for general operatives (environmental workers), support workers at the Citizens Information office, and a caretaker at St. Joseph’s Resource Centre. No experience is necessary and accredited training will be provided to support career development. The contract is for a minimum of one year. LATE MR THOMAS CUMMINS 

Pray for the Repose of the Soul of Mr Thomas (Tom) Cummins late of Lahausk, Strokestown and Tooting, London who died recently in Tooting, London. Tom was pre-deceased by his wife, Mai (nee Keaveney) of Clooncarrow, Kingsland. Tom is survived by his daughter, Adeline, London, his brother-in-law, Eugene Keaveney, Peggy and family Clooncarrow, Kingsland; his sister, Mary Madden, Micky and family, Beaumont, Dublin; his sister-in-law, Maura Cummins and family, Lahausk, Strokestown. The funeral will take place in London.

PUBLIC ARTWORK FOR NEW LIBRARY

Roscommon County Council Arts Office is inviting submissions from artists for innovative public artwork for the new Boyle Community Library. Proposals for outdoor and/or indoor permanent artworks are invited, which may incorporate other artforms such as literature, film, music etc. The proposal may be / or have elements that are tactile or interactive. The overall commission budget is €36,000 including VAT and the deadline for proposals is 4 p.m. on Monday, March 30th. The initiative is funded by the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund under the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht.

MUSIC NETWORK EVENT 

Kevin Burke, Dermot Byrne, Noriana Kennedy and Jim Murray will be in concert on Saturday, February 21st at 8 p.m. in King House, Boyle as part of a Music Network tour. These four extraordinary artists have shared their music with audiences over four decades of the Network’s national touring programme. Accordion maestro Dermot Byrne, legendary fiddler and member of the iconic Bothy Band Kevin Burke, acclaimed singer-songwriter Noriana Kennedy (The Whileaways), and lauded guitarist Jim Murray are sure to provide a great night’s entertainment in Boyle. DEMENTIA ALLIANCE MONTHLY CAFÉ 

Roscommon Dementia Alliance monthly café will take place on this Wednesday, February 18th at 2 p.m. in Lough Key Forest Park. This is a gathering for people living with dementia together with their carers, with entertainment, music, storytelling and information. ARDCARNE GRAVEYARDS COMMITTEE AGM 

The annual general meeting of Ardcarne Parish Graveyards Committee will be held in the John McGahern Barracks Museum, Cootehall on this Wednesday, February 18th at 8.30 p.m. sharp. New members especially welcome.

BOYLE CELTIC 50/50 DRAW 

Last Friday’s winner of the Boyle Celtic 50/50 draw was John Slattery, who won €1,620. Tickets are on sale now for next Friday’s draw from all the usual outlets and online.

GAA LOTTO 

The Boyle GAA numbers drawn in the online lotto draw were 12, 24, 26 & 27. There was no jackpot winner and there was one Match Three winner – Eoin Dwyer. The next jackpot stands at €9,400. Boyle GAA is launching a brand new 50/50 draw, starting Friday, March 7th. The traditional lotto has played a huge role in supporting the club over the years, and the club wants to sincerely thank everyone who supported it. As the club continues to grow and develop, it is moving to a simpler, more transparent weekly 50/50 format.
