Well done to the Rathcroghan Visitor Centre in Tulsk on a two-lecture seminar to mark the ancient Irish Cross Quarter Festivals. The series of lectures looked at the tradition of Booleying and its associated folklore around May Day and was given by centre guide and assistant manager Mike Carty.A further lecture by Noel Carberry focused on the Corlea Trackway, near Kenagh in County Longford, an Iron Age route way believed to link the ancient royal landscape of Rathcroghan to the Hill of Uisneach. Well done to the centre for hosting such an informative event which culminated in the performance of a number of reels by Noel on the flute, accompanied by Mike on guitar to round off a most enjoyable morning. The Rathcroghan landscape is recorded as a landscape of ceremonial assemblies or aénaige. These assembles took place at important points in the year, particularly at the change of season.
