Anger boils as burst watermain leaves County Roscommon households without water for fourth time in a few weeks

A burst watermain has caused a water outage for residents in West Roscommon for the fourth time in a matter of weeks.
Anger is at boiling point in West Roscommon as a burst watermain has caused another water outage for residents for the fourth time in a matter of weeks.
Residents served by the Cloonfad to Lowberry Cross water supply are frustrated with the volume of outages and are calling for action.
Fianna Fail councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice has been raising the issue on an ongoing basis and is seeking answers from Uisce Éireann.
The Roscommon Herald contacted Uisce Éireann on the issue in the last 10 days and earlier this morning. A number of questions were put to the company on the outages and answers are awaited.
Today, following another outage, the second in just over a week, Uisce Éireann said that it was working to restore supply to properties in Cloonfad, and surrounding areas following a burst watermain this morning.
The areas affected include townlands west of Lowberry Cross including Meeltraun, Cloonfad village, 100 Acres, Clogher Upper, Derrylahan, Cornabanny, Swinefield, Fiddauns, Gorteenacammadil, Tonlegee ( in Mayo), Culkeen, Pollanalty, Ballinross, Mountdelvin, and Moigh.
"Expert water service crews have been dispatched and are working to minimise disruption and carry out the required repair works, with every effort being made to complete this work as quickly as possible," said the company.
"We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are and we sincerely regret any inconvenience caused. We also want to thank impacted customers for their patience as we work to restore normal supplies," said a statement.
