Average spend on groceries in County Roscommon shows dramatic increase

Spending on groceries in County Roscommon for the month of August showed a 7.4pc increase on the same month last year, according to new figures.

The latest AIB Spend Trend shows that the biggest rise in spending on groceries across the country was in County Roscommon with an increase of 7.4pc. It was followed by Offaly and Louth at 6.6pc. The smallest increase was in Clare at 1.4pc, followed by Longford at 1.6pc.

Meanwhile, the AIB figures show expenditure in restaurants and takeaways increased 8pc, with 83pc of this on premises, and 17pc via delivery apps or online, but the counties with the least spend via delivery apps were Leitrim (8.4pc), Roscommon (9.7pc) and Kerry (10.2pc).

The data was compiled from card transactions carried out by AIB customers in store and online during August 2025.
