Ballagh pool reopened this morning for first time in more than two years

The swimming pool at the former Abbeyfield Hotel in Ballaghaderreen re-opened for the first time in more than two years.
Ballaghaderreen swimming pool reopened its doors for the first time in more than two years earlier this morning (Monday) as the new operator officially launched a range of services for the public.
The pool on the site of the former Abbeyfield Hotel will now be known as Splash Pool Ballaghaderreen and re-opened at 6 a.m this morning to mark a new beginning for the facility.
Splash Swim Schools CEO Bríd Graham paid tribute to her team’s trojan efforts in getting it reopened.
“I’m delighted that Splash Swim Schools has taken the lead in reviving this facility. As we’ve worked overtime to get the doors open this month, we’ve been energised at every turn by the support and enthusiasm of the local community in Ballaghaderreen who recognise the value of having an available swimming facility in terms of health and wellbeing of children and adults alike," said Ms Graham.
Local people and families will benefit from the introduction of a range of new services, including swim fit sessions, aqua aerobics, and infant, toddler, child and adult water confidence and swimming lessons provided. Most swim lessons are now available to book online.
The reopening of the pool is set to create up to 25 new jobs.
"Saturday saw the qualification of 14 Level 1 and Level 2 swim teachers with Water Safety Ireland and all teachers will have the opportunity of employment with us. It’s a wonderful day for the town and we look forward to welcoming infants and children and adults alike to our classes in Splash Pool Ballaghaderreen from this week on," she said.
The pool opens daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m,, Monday to Friday, while opening times on Saturday are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 9-6 p.m. on Sunday.
