Votes of sympathy were passed by members of Boyle Municipal District at a recent meeting to the Dowd and Frain families and the relations and friends of John Burke.
Messages of sympathy were passed to Cllr Micheál Frain on the sad passing of his mother-in-law and father-in-law who died within two weeks of each other.
Olive Dowd (née Chandler), Slieveroe, Tibohine, Castlerea, and late of New Street, Ballaghaderreen passed away on February 19th surrounded by her heartbroken family in the Roscommon Hospice.
Her husband Tim passed away peacefully with his family by his side in Sligo University Hospital on March 4th.
He is survived by his children Olivia (Micheál), Ray (Orlagh), Christina (Christopher) and Mary (Gary), his grandchildren Molly, Jamie, Jessica, Alex, Ruby and Ollie, his sister Martina, brother-in-law Jim, sister-in-law Josie, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and many friends.
Cllr Leah Cull also sent her sympathies to the family of John Burke. The Boyle man was one of the founding members of Úna Bhán Tourism and was highly regarded for his community work.
Cllr Cull said he was one of the busiest community activist in the north of the county.
“He had the ability to connect with many people and he will be deeply missed.”
Cllr Valerie Byrne and Cathaoirleach Cllr Sean Moylan also paid tribute to Mr Burke.
Mr Burke of Riversdale House, Knockvicar, Boyle, passed away suddenly, in the tender care of the staff at Sligo University Hospital on Sunday, March 9th. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Tina, parents John F and Elizabeth, brother Frank and daughter Fióna.
He is deeply missed by his loving daughters Áine, Eithne and Úna, son Martin, sons-in-law, Brian, Eamonn, Brían and Emmett, daughter-in-law Maeve, grandchildren Mark, Niamh, Anna, Aoibhe, Laoise, Ben, Seán, Grace, Leo, Florence and Bea, sisters Sr. Nora, Nancy, Maureen and Bridget, sister-in-law Rhona, brother-in-law Noel, nieces, nephews, extended family, his much loved neighbours, friends and colleagues.
