Lisa O'Rourke was in action at the European Elite Boxing Championships in Bulgaria this evening.

Castlerea boxer Lisa O’Rourke safely secured her passage into the 80kg quarter-final of the European Elite Boxing Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Boxing for the first time at this weight, the 2022 World champion and 2025 World silver medallist, was utterly dominant in all three rounds of her last 16 bout this evening against Greek opponent, Vasiliki Stavridou.

O'Rourke forced two standing counts in the third round, and won every round on all cards to secure an impressive 5-0 victory.

She will now meet England’s Emily Asquith in a last eight bout on Tuesday evening, with the winner guaranteed at least a bronze medal.

The 24-year-old Roscommon boxer will be facing a much stiffer challenge against Asquith, who was a silver medallist at the 2025 World Boxing Championships.

Her sister, Aoife, reigning world champion, four-time European champion and double Olympian, will also be in action on Tuesday evening.

She will begin her 75kg campaign with a quarter-final bout, meaning she’s also one victory away from a medal.
