Frustration grows as another burst hits West Roscommon water supply

Crews are working to resolve the issue.

For the second day in a row householders and businesses in the Cloonfad area have been hit with a water outage following a burst water main.

Uisce Éireann said this morning that its crews are working to restore water supply in Cloonfad following a burst water main in the village.

The company said that crews are on site carrying out repairs and "every effort is being made" to restore supply as quickly and safely as possible.

This is a second burst on that section of water main, following the completion of repairs to the previous burst yesterday.

Ger Greally, Uisce Éireann’s water treatment operations manager for County Roscommon acknowledged that this supply disruption "is frustrating, particularly as it is the second burst in this section of water main in two days. We apologise to customers for the impact it is having this morning. Our immediate priority is to restore water supply to affected homes and businesses as quickly as possible.

”Repairs are expected to be completed this afternoon and water supplies will return gradually over the following hours as the network refills. Customers in higher-lying areas or at the ends of the network may experience a longer wait while the system fully recharges."
