Lands are saturated after heavy overnight rain and melting snow.

Motorists are this morning reporting surface water on several roads around the county following heavy overnight rainfall.

While roads are passable the advice to motorists is to slow down and exercise caution as the rain continues.

Today, Saturday, will be very wet and windy due to Storm Bert with heavy rain and flooding likely, according to Met Eireann.

Roscommon remains under a yellow warning for rain. It is expected that rain will clear eastwards later in the morning but showery rain will follow in the afternoon, turning heavy at times with hail and thunder possible. 

Very strong and gusty southerly winds, will decrease moderate for a time before increasing strong and gusty again by evening time. Highest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees.

It will be windy tonight with showery rain, heavy at times with possible spot flooding, clearing eastwards, followed by clear spells and blustery showers. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in fresh to strong and gusty south to southwest winds.

It will be a windy day on Sunday with sunny spells and scattered heavy showers, merging to longer spells of rain at times. Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees with strong and gusty south to southwest winds with gale or strong gales near coasts.
