Community service for theft offences

A 24-year old woman who stole thousands of euro worth of goods from shops was given community service at a recent sitting of Roscommon District Court.
Chloe Sweeney, with an address at 24 Lanna Aoibhinn, Longford, appeared before Judge James Faughnan where her case was up for finalisation. The court heard that she had been found suitable for community service.
The accused was being prosecuted for stealing €450 worth of Yankee Candles from Tesco on September 14th, 2023. There were also offences on September 9th, 2023, where €1,278.98 in groceries, alcohol, and clothing were taken from Dunnes Roscommon. On August 7th, 2023, groceries worth €633.97 were taken from Dunnes Roscommon, and on the same day, €1,058.38 worth of grocery items were taken from Tesco Roscommon.
The judge handed down 200 hours community service in lieu of five months imprisonment.
