The Class of 2023 received their Leaving Certificate results online on Friday, August 25th. Many of the girls visited the school with their parents and all were delighted to see them celebrate their outstanding achievements with the entire school community. Great focus and dedication was shown to their academic studies throughout senior cycle despite the many challenges they faced due to school closures in 2020 and 2021. The school is very proud of the class of 2023, not only for their academic success but also of their individual contribution to the school through extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Wishing them the very best of luck with their further studies and future endeavours.

The warmest of welcomes to the First Year students who joined the school community on August 25th for their first day of secondary school. The girls are settling well into life as a Convent of Mercy student and are embracing the many changes to their school day including meeting new friends and teachers, using their lockers and student journals and also studying many new subjects.
Each First Year has been assigned a mentor, a Fifth Year ‘Cara’ who will help them to settle in and act as a guide to them for the coming year. They enjoyed a ‘Meet and Greet’ session in the school assembly hall last week as part of our ‘Cara’ programme. Céad míle fáilte roimh go léir.
The school will be announcing sign up details for the many and varied extra-curricular activities on offer over the coming weeks.

The Transition Year students were welcomed back to school on Thursday, August 31st and less than a week later they were getting their year off to an adventurous start with an overnight bonding trip to Killary Adventure Centre in County Galway. They were accompanied by their teachers Mr McManus, Ms McCabe, Ms Higgins and Ms Lavin. A special welcome to new teachers Ms McCabe and Ms Higgins. The girls enjoyed many outdoor activities in the sunshine on the Wednesday and Thursday as they climbed rock walls and kayaked across fjords, also taking part in rope climbing and gorge walking. The overnight trip was hugely enjoyed by all and was a welcome start to their jam-packed Transition Year.

Congratulations to Olivia Costello in Third Year who participated in the prestigious Irish Women’s Open golf tournament held in Dromoland Castle. Olivia was invited to play in the tournament and was among a field of competitive golf stars including Leona Maguire and other international players. The school is so proud of her achievement and wish her all the best in her golfing career this year. Olivia was part of the school’s senior golf team that won the Senior Schools’ Golf competition in Dublin last spring.
