Roscommon County County has issued the following Strom Isha update:

“All told the major issue was fallen trees in a wide range of locations throughout the county. No major injuries were reported. However Roscommon County Council would continue to advise motorists to drive with extra care due to fallen debris which may still be present on minor roads. However the local authority are continuing to work to alleviate any outstanding issues," said a council spokerspon.

The following is a guide to incidents which have been reported to the counci, and it is not an exhaustive list:

The R325 Castlerea to Loughglynn was impassable for a time last night Similarily the R325 Loughglynn to Ballaghaderreen road.

There was a fallen tree on the R377 Castlerea to Castleplunkett road but the road was passable.

There is a fallen tree on the R326 Loughglynn to Ballyhaunis road though the road was passable.

The Tarmon road from Castlerea to Tarmon school was blocked at a number of locations.

The Castleplunkett to Kilmurry road was also blocked.

The N4 at Ardcarne on the west bound lane was blocked due to a fallen tree which is being removed at present.

On the Keadue to Ballyfarnon Road two trees were removed resulting in a portion of the road being blocked at Killronan Castle.

On the Ballymote to Boyle road a fallen tree was been cleared.

The Mountallen road was cleared of fallen trees.

The Cootehall road was also cleared of a fallen tree.

The Felton road to Killaraght was blocked by three fallen trees.

The Cullfadagh Boyle road at Brishlagh was affected by a fallen tree.

The Croghan to Cortober road was also cleared of fallen debris.

The Kilmore road was also cleared of fallen trees.

There was a fallen tree blocking the Drum road at Woodenbridge near Boyle.

The Garrow road in Boyle was blocked by an Eircom pole down across the road.

Entering Knockcroghery from Roscommon, there was a tree fallen on the hard shoulder.

There was a tree down on Ballinagard road, on the Galway Road out of Roscommon Two trees were down in Moate Park Avenue towards the Athlone road entrance.

There was a tree down near the level crossing outside Ballymoe.

There was also a tree down at Ardkieran Cemetery, Cloverhill.

A tree fell on the Clontuskert to Scramogue road.

Debris was reported on the footpath outside Slieve Bawn Hotel, Ballyleague.

There was a tee down on R446 at Colaiste Chiaran.

There was a tree down on the Donamon road, L1819.

A tee is down on the L7581 at Meehanbee on the L7581.

There were also reports of trees down in Donamon on the Wood Road, L1819.

There were also reports of a tree down on the old N6 road near Colaiste Chiarain.

There are also power outages at our Civic Amenity sites in Roscommon and Ballaghaderreen however power has been restored at the Boyle facility.

Roscommon County Council would like to thank members of the public for their co-operation and patience during Storm Isha. 

“We would also like to express our thanks to our fire service personnel, local ESB crews and our hard-working outdoor crews and area staff who worked tirelessly to alleviate issues as they arose,” said a council spokesperson.
