Roscommon County Council has this evening sought further information in relation to a planning application lodged by Aldi Stores (Ireland) Ltd to build a supermarket in Boyle.
The German discount supermarket chain applied for planning in late February to build a 1,315 square metre store, which would involve a reconfigured site access from Patrick Street in the town to lands to the rear to facilitate the construction of a single storey store with an off-licence.
The plans also include the provision for 96 car parking spaces, 10 cycle parking spaces and a bicycle shelter.
The proposals also include the erection of an internally illuminated two sided pole sign at the site entrance at Patrick Street along with two internally illuminated store signs at the northern elevation and eastern elevation.
Aldi hopes to create up to 30 permanent new jobs as part of its plans.
Several objections to the planning were lodged on the basis of its location and impact on the retail sector, its effects on historical structures and concerns with regard to traffic congestion.
This evening Roscommon County Council sought further information on the plans by the supermarket chain.
