County Roscommon football club seeking to buy land to develop 'state-of-the-art football facility'

Today, St. Joseph's is one of the largest and most successful soccer clubs in the midlands with close to 500 members.

St. Joseph’s Football Club in Monksland is seeking to buy suitable land to develop a "state-of-the-art football facility".

The club is currently seeking expressions of interest from landowners in its bid to acquire between six to 12 acres of land to deliver this long term development project.

St. Joseph’s Football Club are seeking land in the Monksland or the west side of Athlone. All land use zones will be considered, greenfield or agricultural sites are preferred and it must be in proximity to core services, amenities, and road infrastructure.

Sites with or without planning permission will be considered.

Phase one of the club’s project will focus on developing a full-size 4G all-weather pitch, a resource, the club says, will benefit all local clubs, the wider community, schools, and other local sporting organisations.

Established in 1998, the club has experienced consistent growth and success over the past 25 years.

Today, it is one of the largest and most successful soccer clubs in the midlands with close to 500 members. They range from U-6 to U-16 with teams competing in the Midland Schoolboy/Girl League, SFAI Cups, and other competitions.

Interested landowners or their representatives are invited to submit expressions of interest including details on site location, site size and description and asking price by February 1st 2026.
