The Johnston’s Pharmacy store located on The Square in Castlerea is to close its doors for the final time today, Tuesday.

It’s owner Gareth Johnson confirmed to the Roscommon Herald that the store was “not economically viable” and would cease trading after close of business today.

Mr Johnson said all staff would be retained and relocated across his three other pharmacies.

He extended his sincere thanks to all the loyal customers in Castlerea who had come through the doors since Johnston’s Pharmacy established a presence in the town several years ago.

Johnston’s Pharmacy originally operated five stores, one in Castlerea, three in County Longford and one in Ballygar.

It now operates three pharmacies in Lanesboro, Ballygar and Longford town. The company consolidated its two Longford stores into one business.
