County Roscommon’s homelessness figures for June released

The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage recently published the Monthly Homelessness Report for June.
In the report it was revealed that 22 adults in County Roscommon were accessing emergency accommodation as of the final week in June, two more than the previous month.
The West region, consisting of Counties Roscommon, Mayo and Galway had a total of 420 adults in emergency accommodation, an increase of five for the region since May.
The national figure for June was 10,957 adults, an increase of 54 on last month.
328 adults with Irish citizenship made up the total figure, with 59 EEA/UK and 33 non-EEA citizens accessing emergency accommodation in June.
A total of 226 children from 118 families were in emergency accommodation in the region as of June, a decrease of two families and 12 children from the previous month.
The Department also released the Quarterly Progress Report on homelessness for Q2, listing details of the numbers of individuals that were prevented from entering emergency accommodation and emergency accommodation into tenancies.
Last quarter, 35 adults exited emergency accommodation in the West region, bringing the total to 57 so far this year, and 53 adults were prevented from entering emergency accommodation, making that figure 122 for the year.
Four tenancies were created in Q2 for the region, with 33 being created nationally. Since the Housing First Plan was adopted in 2022, 65 tenancies have been created in the West.
