The Elphin based Windmill Wheelers Cycling Club has announced details of its Windmill Classic, a Cycling Ireland approved fundraising event on Sunday, June 7th in support of the Sunflower Children’s Hospice.

Starting from the Community Centre in Elphin, the event will feature three scenic route options (35km, 55km, and 105km), welcoming cyclists of all abilities, from families and leisure riders to experienced club cyclists.

All funds raised will go directly towards the development of the Sunflower Children's Hospice, which will provide vital palliative care services to children with life limiting illnesses and their families.

CEO of Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation Martina Jennings said that they “are deeply honoured that Windmill Wheelers have chosen to support the Sunflower Children's Hospice through this event. The generosity of clubs and communities like this is what allows us to continue providing compassionate, specialist care to children and families who need it most. Every kilometre cycled and every euro raised brings us closer to ensuring no family faces this journey alone. We urge everyone to get involved, whether you're riding, volunteering, or simply spreading the word."

Treasurer of Windmill Wheelers Damien Devaney remarked that “the Windmill Classic is a wonderful occasion that brings our community together around a sport we are all passionate about. We are absolutely delighted to be raising vital funds for the Sunflower Children's Hospice, a cause that is close to so many hearts across our region. Whether you're a competitive cyclist or simply enjoy a leisurely spin, there is a route for you, and every participant makes a real difference."

Registrations are now open via Eventmaster. Full event details are available on the Windmill Wheelers Facebook and Instagram pages, or by calling 087 235 4374.

•The Windmill Wheelers is race and leisure cycling club with over 50 members from counties Roscommon and Leitrim. The club is always welcoming new members and encourages anyone with an interest in cycling, at any level, to get in touch.
