Fire forces temporary closure of Roscommon supermarket

Hanly’s Eurospar in Strokestown is to remain closed until further notice following a fire on the premises on Thursday morning.
The store on Elphin Street had to be evacuated when a fire broke out in the building at around 10.50 a.m..
The building had to be evacuated and no injuries were reported. The fire brigade brought the blaze under control but the shop suffered extensive smoke damage.
It’s thought that the fire was caused by an electrical fault.
In a social media message posted last night, the owners said that the supermarket would be closed until further notice:
“Important Notice to Our Customers
"Due to a fire today at Hanlys Eurospar Ireland Strokestown, our store is temporarily closed until further notice.
"I would like to thank our wonderful staff who managed the emergency today extremely well. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this unexpected incident will cause and appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult time.
“We would like to thank the emergency services from Strokestown and Elphin for their swift response and support. We will provide updates on our reopening as soon as we have more information.
“Thank you for your continued support.
