Four extra screens and new restaurant planned at Athlone cinema

Four extra screens and a new restaurant are being planned at Athlone cinema, according to a planning application lodged with Westmeath County Council.

Cinema Properties Limited is seeking planning permission for an extension and upgrade works to the existing six screen IMC Cinema at Golden Island Shopping Centre.

The planned works involved the construction of four additional screens, and a new restaurant adjoining the extended cinema building.

The planning application notes that demolition works are required to the existing cinema to facilitate the new extension.

The plans also include provision for a new cinema entrance, local car parking, and the relocation of thirty-three car parking spaces within Golden Island Shopping Centre.

Westmeath county planners are due to make a decision on the development, currently at pre-validation stage, on or by January 9th.
