Carrick Town FC has lodged a planning application with Roscommon County Council for the first phase of a major new development aimed at enhancing the club’s facilities.

The proposed development is to be located at Mullaghmore townland, along the Elphin Road in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Roscommon.

The club’s playing pitch is currently located at the Showgrounds in Carrick-on-Shannon, which is owned by the Midland and Western Agricultural Society.

Established in 1976 and affiliated with the Sligo, Leitrim & District Soccer League, the club has more than 600 members.

The proposals includes the construction of two all-weather astroturf playing pitches complete with floodlighting, fencing around the pitches, a new parking area, and a perimeter walking track.

Additional elements of the application include temporary changing facilities, the creation of a new access point onto the public road, and connections to all necessary services, as well as associated site development works.

County planners are due to make a decision on the development by July 30th.
