GRETB community fun day in Castlerea on Friday

Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB) and Roscommon Leader Partnership are teaming up for a Community Fun Day in Castlerea this Friday, June 13th.
The day is one-part fun with ice-cream, treats, and face-painting, and one-part information session where people will have the opportunity to find out more about the services in their local community such as GRETB, Roscommon Leader Partnership, MABS, Citizens Information and Safelink.
Following on from the success of similar events in Ballaghaderreen and Roscommon Town last year, the roadshow is now coming to the Further Education and Training (FET) Centre in Castlerea on Friday. The day will offer a range of fun and educational activities for people of all ages in the Castlerea area.
The fun day will get underway at 2 p.m. with a variety of activities in and around the training centre in Castlerea.
This will include a workshop from Music Generation, an art workshop from GRETB, a range of community education workshops including felting and gardening, a state-of-the-art gaming van for gamers, face-painting and crafting for children, refreshments and ice cream for everyone, and a photo booth to capture your memories of the event.
Staff from a range of local services will be present on the day to help people build connections and spark journeys of personal growth.
As well as a variety of taster workshops from GRETB, there will be a chance to learn about and engage with local services including Citizens Information, Intreo, Roscommon Volunteer Centre, Roscommon Leader Partnership, MABS, Worklinks, Roscommon Women’s Network, Safelink, Music Generation, GRETB staff who will talk about courses, Foróige, and Roscommon County Library.
Ros FM will also be onsite for a special outside broadcast and there will be an opportunity to explore the FET centre and learn about the training and courses available there, including the Tertiary Degree in Nursing which is launching in September.
“This event is open to the public, families and their children.
“There will be information stands, leaflets and question and answer sessions.
“The main thrust of the day is information and an introduction to the range of services available along with a a bit of fun for the whole family,” explained Darragh O’Brien, who works as an Education Co-ordinator with the GRETB.
For a fun day of discovery, connection and community, you are invited to GRETB FET Centre at Árd na Gréine on St. Patrick’s Street, Castlerea, any time from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. this Friday, June 13th, all are welcome.
