Details confirmed for Roscommon’s opening games of Connacht U-20 and minor championships

Roscommon’s minor footballers will commence their defence of the Tom Kilcoyne Cup with an away clash against Sligo.

Shane Moran’s troops will face Sligo in Tubbercurry on Friday, March 20th, with the game commencing at 5 p.m.

Roscommon will enjoy a bye in the second round of games before squaring off against Leitrim at King and Moffatt Dr. Hyde Park on Friday, April 3rd. The game will throw in at 6.30 p.m.

The reigning provincial champions will travel to face Mayo seven days later before hosting Galway on Friday April 17. Venues and times for those games will be confirmed in due course.

The second and third placed teams will meet in the Connacht semi final on Friday, May 1 while the winner will meet the top team in the group stage in the Connacht final on Friday, May 8.

Roscommon’s provincial U-20 Championship will commence with a blockbuster trip to Tuam as Cian Smith’s side come up against Galway on Wednesday, March 18th. The contest will commence at 5.15 p.m.

Seven days later, Roscommon will host Sligo at St. Aidan’s GAA Grounds, Ballyforan with the game throwing in at 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, April 1st, there will be a repeat of last year’s Connacht final as Roscommon travel to Hastings Insurance MacHale Park to face Mayo.

Roscommon will then enjoy a bye week before hosting Leitrim on April 15th, with the venue and time to be confirmed in due course.

The top team after the group stage qualifies for the Connacht final on Wednesday, April 29th while the semi final between the second and third placed teams will be held on Wednesday, April 22.
