A Boyle man who had ten previous convictions for no insurance was sentenced to a total of eight months in jail and disqualified from driving when his case came before Judge James Faughnan at Ballaghaderreen District Court.
Reitan Muntean, 12 Warren Grove, Boyle was stopped by Garda Brendan McGrath on May 15th last at Pound Street, Ballaghaderreen.
He had no insurance and no driving licence.
Court presenter Sergeant Mark Mahon told the court he was disqualified at the time and had ten previous convictions.
The court also heard from the defence who said the vehicle belonged to a friend and he was moving it for him.
The judge imposed a four month prison term for failing to have insurance and a further four months and a five year ban for not having a driving licence.
Recognisances were fixed in the event of an appeal.
