Jobs boost as new County Roscommon service station opens

The new Mace service station located on the Knock Road in Castlerea opened this morning.

A new Mace service station located on the Knock Road in Castlerea opened this morning to the public and will employ up to 18 staff.

The former Day Break business closed last year, but it has now been taken over by well-known Castlerea man Dermot Lyons and will operate under the Mace brand.

The service station comprises a new shop, deli and forecourt.

Dermot, a well-known GAA referee throughout the county and a member of the Castlerea St. Kevin’s senior management team, already operates the Mace Supermarket and Castlerea Post Office on the town’s Square and a Mace store and service station at Carnmore Cross in Galway.

He employs a staff of 52 between both his existing business, but this is now expected to rise 70 with his second venture in Castlerea.

Dermot started out in business in Castlerea in 2001 with a fruit and vegetable shop on Main Street, moving in 2007 to the Square to open the Mace Supermarket.
