Keogh named new Cathaoirleach of Athlone Municipal District

The new Cathaoirleach of the Athlone Municipal District (MD)of Roscommon County Council was elected at a meeting this morning, Thursday.
The new Cathaoirleach is Cllr John Keogh (FF) while the Leas Cathaoirleach is Fine Gael's Cllr Dominic Connolly.
Cllr Keogh and Cllr Connolly will serve in the roles for the next year.
At the first meeting of the Municipal District following the local elections, Cllr Keogh was proposed for the position by Fine Gael's Cllr John Naughten and seconded by Independent Emer Kelly, who is the outgoing Cathaoirleach of the MD.
Independent Cllr Laurence Fallon and Cllr Naughten proposed and seconded Cllr Connolly for the role of Leas Cathaoirleach.
