Motorist clocked driving nearly 30km over speed limit in County Roscommon

A motorist in County Roscommon was clocked driving nearly 30 km over the speed limit during a Garda Siochana crackdown on speeding earlier today.
Between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. today, Monday, GoSafe checked the speeds of 90,454 vehicles and detected 170 vehicles travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit.
In addition to the GoSafe figures, Garda members detected an additional 164 vehicles travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit during the same timeframe.
An example of some of the speeds detected, as part of Slow Down Day, included a motorist clocked travelling at 89km/h in a 60km/h zone on the N4 at Drishoge, Carrick-On-Shannon, County Roscommon and a motorist travelling at 130km/h in a 120km/h Zone on the M6 at Killavally Tyrrellspass, County Westmeath.
“An Garda Síochána thanks drivers for their compliance during ‘National Slow Down Day’, making Irish roads safer for all road users.
“We continue to appeal to drivers to comply with speed limits in order to reduce the number of speed related collisions, save lives and reduce injuries on our roads,” said a Garda statement.
