So far, almost 125,317 vehicles have been checked for speeding. "It is positive that the majority of motorists are travelling within the designated speed, however, 440 drivers have been detected and some have been especially dangerous," said Gardai.
Speeds detected today Saturday included: - 93km/h in a 50km/h zone in R510 Dock Road, Limerick; 107km/h in a 60km/h zone on the N4 Drishoge, Carrick-On-Shannon, County Roscommon; 112km/h in an 80km/h zone on the R250 Conwal, Letterkenny, Donegal; 186km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N24 Tibberaghny, Piltown, Kilkenny.
Gardai say that they are continuing to monitor and conduct checkpoints on roads, using technology to detect those speeding nationwide. "Remember to please slow down and drive safely today and every day," is their message.
