New season of Black Mirror features Roscommon actor

Chris O’Dowd stars alongside American actress Rashida Jones in the first episode of the series, titled Common People.

Boyle actor Chris O'Dowd features in season seven of Netflix's popular dystopian sci-fi series Black Mirror, which was released last week.

In the season's first episode titled 'Common People', O'Dowd plays Mike, a welder who is trying to start a family with his wife and schoolteacher Amanda, who is played by Rashida Jones, best known for Parks and Recreations and The Office (US).

The episode centres around O'Dowd's character who desperately tries to pay for his wife's experimental medical costs in order to keep her alive.

The new season has been well received with its creator, Charlie Brooker paying high compliments to his cast: "From my perspective, it's great because a great actor makes the writing seem better. It elevates the writing."
