Over €650,000 for Roscommon sports clubs and community facilities

Nine projects in County Roscommon are set to receive €654,141 in CLÁR funding following an announcement today by Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD.
St Faithleachs GAA in Lanesboro will received €100,000 for the provision of a new car park, entrance and biodiversity planting while similarly Strokestown GAA club will receive €100,000 for the surfacing of a carpark.
€65,000 has been awarded to four organisations. Skyvalley Rovers in Taghmaconnell will receive the funding for the refurbishing of an astroturf pitch while a further €65,000 will see Ballinlough Enterprise, Kiltullagh carrying out works to enhance accessibility and upgrade of amenities at Lake O'Flynn. €65,000 has also been announced for St Joseph’s GAA in Kilteevan for a solar lit fenced walkway to include landscaping and sensory garden.
Shannon Gaels in Boyle has received similar funding for the installation of a new outdoor gym and upgrade of facilities at Shannon Gaels.
Arigna Community Sports has been awarded €64,800 for a park walking track and playground area; Trinity Arts in Castlerea has received €63,842 for the upgrade of the centre while Oran GAA is being awarded €65,499 for the development of a new MUGA.
Welcoming the funding Senator Gareth Scahill said: “This is excellent news for Roscommon and a real endorsement of the great work being done by local groups here.
“The Arigna Community Sports Park, Skyvalley Rovers, Enterprise Kiltullagh, Shannon Gaels, Trinity Arts Castlerea, Oran GAA, St Joseph’s GAA, St Faithleach’s, Strokestown GAA receiving this funding will provide long-lasting benefits, improving key amenities and ensuring that communities across Roscommon continue to flourish.
“This funding will help create better environments for people to come together, whether it’s for sports, cultural events, or simply to enjoy time in shared spaces."
