Permission sought for Lidl store redevelopment

Lidl Roscommon Town

Planning permission is being sought to redevelop the county town’s Lidl.

According to a planning notice at the site, the company is seeking to demolish the existing discount foodstore and boundary wall at the north west of the Lanesboro Road site, and to build a replacement, single storey, discount foodstore, which will include an off-licence sales area.

The proposed development will have 101 parking spaces, with dedicated electric vehicle parking and cycle parking, a trolley bay canopy, and photovoltaic panels on the roof.

As well as landscaping and all associated site works, there will also be new pedestrian access points at the north west of the site; and a minor amendment to the kerbline of the vehicle access layout.

The application has been received by the council and is currently at the initial pre-validation stage. No date for a decision is known yet.
