Repairs to two bursts on a water main in Cloonfad have been completed, according to Uisce Éireann.

Repairs to two bursts on a water main in Cloonfad have been completed and the network is currently recharging, according to Uisce Éireann.

The bursts between Lowberry Cross and Cloonfad had resulted in supply interruptions for customers in Cloonfad, Granlahan South, and surrounding areas.

The company said this afternoon that repairs were completed at noon and supply levels in the area are currently returning to normal. However, it may take longer for those on higher ground or at the end of the network to have a full supply restored. Alternative water supplies will remain in place at St. Patrick’s Church, Cloonfad, and Cloonfad soccer pitch, Lavallyroe until 4 p.m. this afternoon.

Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.

Oliver McKeon of Uisce Éireann thanked affected customers for their cooperation while repairs were underway. “Uisce Éireann acknowledges the inconvenience caused by unplanned outages and thanks customers for their patience and cooperation while these works were carried out. We regret any inconvenience caused. Typically, it takes three to four hours following repairs for normal supply to be restored to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.”
