A County Roscommon farmer will feature on the new series of Saol na Feirme, which returns to RTÉ One and RTÉ Player tonight, Monday, February 24th at 8.30 p.m..
The six part Irish language series explores the lives of seven Irish farming families as they try to navigate the unpredictable challenges of the past 12 months.
In the lowlands of County Roscommon, sheep farmer Matty Carroll tends to 120 ewes. He has a deep respect for tradition and the land, which was passed down from his father and grand uncle.
A proud member of the Galway Wool Co-Op, he is passionate about preserving the value of wool, ensuring nothing goes to waste. Keeping heritage alive, he also raises a few Galway sheep, a rare native breed.
Last year brought unique challenges including record-breaking bad weather that proved the farmers' resilience. From battling extreme conditions to launching new ventures, the farmers' journeys reveal the determination, creativity, and heart it takes to thrive in modern agriculture.
