Roscommon man wins Connacht Junior Club Player of the Year

Connacht Junior Club Player of the Year, Fintan Crawley from Gorthaganny in West Roscommon.

Roscommon man Fintan Crawley was honoured with the Connacht Junior Club Player of the Year award at the Connacht Rugby awards in Galway on Saturday night.

The Gorthaganny native is in his second year playing for the Connacht junior rugby team. 

His award follows on from last year’s achievement when he won Connacht Junior Player of the Interprovincial Series for 2023.

A second row, 33-year-old Crawley plays his club rugby with Ballyhaunis RFC, having played Gaelic football at underage with local club Eire Og.

At the annual gala event which took place at the Galmont Hotel, Diarmuid O’Connell from the Carrick-on-Shannon RFC picked up the Connacht Rugby U-18 Player of the Year award.

Creggs’ duo, Sarah Purcell and Jemima Adams Verling, were nominated for the U-18 Women’s Player of the Year, while Creagh native Aoibheann Reilly was a nominee in the Women’s Player of the Year category.
